EDUCATION:  High School Diploma or GED

 

EXPERIENCE:  Must have a minimum of four (4) years journey-level experience and have completed a formal apprenticeship or equivalent formal vocational/technical training program on industrial HVAC systems.  CFC certified and an HVAC license preferred.  DDC Controls and Heavy Refrigeration experience needed.  Must have the ability to effectively read, write and speak the English language.

 

DUTIES:  Performs a variety of heating and air conditioning trade functions such as the installation, maintenance, or repair of equipment for the generation, distribution, or utilization of commercial systems. Work involves most of the following: Inspect, adjust, repair and maintain equipment to preserve constant dependable indoor air comfort and critical or laboratory environments.  Operate and repair the direct expansion and chilled water-based cooling systems, complex centrifugal chillers, large air handlers, air distribution systems, pneumatic and electronic direct digital control systems and employ test equipment.   Handle, procure, introduce and recover CFC, HFC and HCFC refrigerants.  Must possess an EPA Universal classification for refrigerant recovery and replacement. In general, the work of the HVAC Mechanic requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience. 

 

LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, REGISTRATIONS:  Must maintain required city/county/state license(s) and/or certification(s), where applicable.  Must maintain a valid state driver's license.
